Inspired by the local brick kilns, the red brick building sits enveloped in a sanctuary of century-old trees, sub-tropical gardens and large water bodies.
The sprawling property, designed around hundreds of century-old trees, boasts of many such elements. Red brick walls and katappa stone floors reference rustic English country homes, and the decor here is eclectic yet minimal. Hammocks hang in cozy nooks, jhulas swing in open verandahs, and living and dining spaces open seamlessly into private gardens, making Villa Shashwat a quaint tropical hideout.
It’s perfect to retreat from the noise of the city, ideal for a romantic getaway or a self-care break. While you may never want to leave its luxurious bedrooms—all five come with ensuite baths, open-air showers, tall palm trees and the softest bed linen—the villa also offers a cricket pitch, a mini-golf course, archery, and a saloon-style game room to pack some action into your day.
Four attendants and a cook are always present at the property and are available for grocery runs to the local markets. The kitchen can be used by guests, but non-vegetarian food and smoking are not allowed.
Awas Beach, Varsoli Beach and Alibaug Beach, are all located within 30 minutes of the villa and make for great outing options. The Guild, Contemporary Art Gallery, is a quick 12-minute drive from here and hosts art exhibitions and events all year round. If you want to eat out, cafés like Aparanta, and Kiki Cafe are at hand for local as well as continental flavours.
Getting There
The villa is an easy 3.5 hr drive from Mumbai which is also the nearest airport; the nearest town is Zirad. The property has ample parking but doesn’t have a ramp.
