All about Indian Passport!!

1. The blue passport -

Tourist or Regular Passport - Issued to citizens and other nationals, and generally the most-issued type of passport.

2. The white passport -

Official Passport (Service passport, also Special passport) - Issued to government employees for work-related travel, and to accompanying dependents.

3. The maroon passport -

Diplomatic Passport - Issued to diplomats for work-related travel, and to accompanying dependents.

4. Orange Passport -

The Indian Government has announced its decision to introduce the orange passport for a majority section of the population. It is meant to identify a person that has not studied beyond class 10. Unlike the regular passport, the orange passport won’t have the last page which mentions the father’s name of the holder, permanent address and other critical details. People who are not educationally qualified fall under ECR (immigration check required) category. It means that every time a person in this category wants to fly abroad, he/she is required to clear the criteria laid down by the immigration officials.

Some other Types:

1.Collective Passport - Issued to defined groups for travel together to particular destinations, such as a group of

school children on a school trip to a specified country.

2. Emergency/Temporary Passport - Issued to persons whose passports were lost or stolen, and who do not

have time to obtain replacement passports.
