Dappa menasinakai (Capsicum) Paloov
This is very similar to Chutney which is very known. But this has it’s own taste with capsicum being the main ingredient.
Ingredients:
Capsicum -1 roughly chopped
Green Chilli -4 roughly chopped
Coconut 🥥- 1/4 or 1/2 freshly grated
Groundnut- 3-4 tsp
Khus khus - 1- tsp
Sesame- 2 tsp
Pink salt to taste
Tamarind - small ball size
Sugar -1 tsp
Oil -1 tbsps
Coriander little
Roasted channa-3 tsp
Haldi - 1/4 tsp
Jeera - 1/4 tsp
Urad daal - 1/4 tsp
Lemon -1/2
Curry leaves- few for grinding and tempering
Citric zest (lemon, Musambi, 🍊 orange) few
Method:
1. Take a wok or pan and fry the capsicum and 3 green chilli till they turn automatic and let it cool
2. Take a blender and add coconut, roasted channa daal, ground nut, khus khus, sesame seeds, tamarind, coriander, salt, sugar and the fried capsicum and add little water to it and blend into a smooth paste.
3. Take the same wok and add the blended paste and let it boil with continuous stirring so that the groundnut doesn’t stick and burn. Add the haldi and let it boil and add water to adjust the required consistency and switch off the gas and add lemon and mix.
4. Tempting- Take the wok with 1tsp oil and add jeera and let it crackle and add urad daal and sauté till it turns golden in colour and add 1 green chilli, curry leaves. Add this to the boiled gravy.
Garnish with tempering and the citric zest.
Serve: This goes very well with dosa and idli.
