Lalbaugcha Raja (meaning: The King of Lalbaug) is the sarvajanik (public) Ganesha idol kept at Lalbaug, a locality in Mumbai in the Indian state of Maharashtra, during the Ganesh Chaturthi festival. The idol is kept for public display for 11 days; thereafter it is immersed in the Arabian sea at Girgaon Chowpatty on the auspicious day of Anant Chaturdashi.
There are a total of 13,000 sarvajanik mandals in the city, of which 3,070 mandals are big.
Lalbaugcha Raja Ganeshotsav Mandal to celebrate Ganesh Utsav in traditional way this year adhering to all COVID19 related guidelines &restrictions.
Major restrictions like last year are the cap on the height of the idols. The height of idols cannot exceed 4 feet for mandals in public places and 2 feet for households.
The state government has said welcome processions (Aagman Sohla) on the first day of the festival and all immersion days including the major one on the 10th day will not be allowed.
Last year, Lalbaughcha Raja for the first time in history did not hold Ganesh Chaturthi festivities in the wake of the COVID-19 pandemic.
Last year, a blood & plasma donation camp was organised in place of Ganesh Mahotsav celebrations due to COVID
