A new hotel to book in India’s wine capital
Located just off the Nashik-Mumbai highway, a half-hour from the airport and a 10-minute drive from the city centre, Radisson Blu Hotel & Spa, Nashik makes for an easy getaway for a long weekend. There’s Gymkhana - Gym and Fitness Centre with a squash court and temperature-controlled outdoor swimming pool and Jacuzzi, plus Atman - The Spa to knead out all stress with a range of Ayurvedic, Oriental and Western therapies.
Plenty of grazing options are on hand. Dine al fresco or choose an indoor table with a view of the live kitchens at The Smoked Vine, which rustles up international dishes from Asian woks to wood-fired pizzas, Robatayaki grills and Indian classics alongside a dessert bar. The Tuscan Room pairs modern takes on Mediterranean and Italian dishes with a wine list of Tuscan producers including Antinori, Masseto and Tenuta San Guido, and wine cocktails. For late-night snacking and early brews, hit up Le Bistro; the Indo-French eatery offers charcuterie, sandwiches and cakes that are made with ethically sourced, local ingredients. The Orient House restaurant and members-only business club Phalke Lounge are in the works.
Hotel has 51,000sqft of event space to play with. Choose from outdoor terraces, large lawns, private dining rooms, pillarless ballrooms and a range of meeting areas, all kitted out by the hotel team of event curators and caterers. For a special occasion, The Tuscan Room is ideal for an intimate banquet-style event.
Curious travellers can explore the region beyond its wines, too. The Dada Saheb Phalke Museum in tribute to India’s first feature-length filmmaker, and the Coin Museum, are a short walk from the hotel, while several tourist attractions are within a half-hour drive. Ask the concierge to hook you up with a hike to the ancient Pandav caves, a village visit, and heritage walks around the old city.
